Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Rate: $48.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: 3x12 D/N rotation 7:00 AM 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM 7:00 AM, every other weekend required; must be available to work every other holiday, if needed

Job Summary

This is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position on the Medical Surgical unit (6800) at a 528-bed acute care teaching facility in Rochester, NY. The unit serves as a complex care unit for Medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients. The LPN will take their own patient assignment with the support of an RN, with a patient ratio of 1:5 6. First-time travelers are accepted for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take own patient assignment with the support of an RN
  • Perform blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and start/maintaining IVs
  • Manage high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, and trach care/management
  • Perform feeding tube care/management, heparin protocols, pacemaker (temp/perm) management, and telemetry on-the-unit monitoring
  • Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams, follow isolation precautions, perform wound care/wound vac, and manage MS/Tele, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and surgical drains
  • Float within skillset as required
  • Chart using EPIC

Education Requirements

  • Active New York Single State LPN license required (NY is not a Compact state; pending license not accepted)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Patient ratio: 1:5 6
  • Complex care unit serving Medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients
  • Floating required within skillset
  • Scrub color: Any combination of navy blue and white
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required, if needed
  • Call-off policy: The client may cancel (call off) up to three shifts during a 13-week contract period without incurring charges for the canceled hours
  • RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted upon submission
  • Locals accepted for LPNs at a reduced rate
