Machine Operator A

Location: Solon, OH

Hours: 3:00pm - 11:00pmDepartment: Manufacturing – Engine RepairReports To: Manufacturing Manager

Why This Role Matters

As a Machine Operator A, you are a key leader on the production floor, responsible for ensuring filling and packaging operations run safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. This role helps drive production performance by troubleshooting equipment, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and leading team members to achieve operational goals. Your expertise directly impacts product quality, workplace safety, and overall manufacturing success.

What You Will Do

  • Lead assigned production lines to meet safety, quality, and productivity objectives.
  • Operate, set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and maintain filling and packaging equipment.
  • Perform machine changeovers, preventative maintenance activities, and routine equipment servicing.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment issues while working closely with Maintenance Technicians.
  • Monitor product quality, identify defects, and record observations within the Quality Management System.
  • Review manufacturing work orders, bills of materials, and production instructions to ensure accurate execution.
  • Maintain accurate production, downtime, scrap, and lot traceability records.
  • Operate filling systems, bulk pumps, robotic packaging equipment, palletizing systems, labeling equipment, and other production machinery.
  • Promote a culture of safety by following EHS procedures, participating in safety programs, and recommending improvements.
  • Train, mentor, and provide guidance to Material Handlers and Machine Operators B and C.
  • Support manufacturing operations in the absence of a Team Lead and assist across production roles when needed.

What You Will Bring

  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, including experience in a lead or senior operator capacity.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve operational issues.
  • Experience operating, setting up, and maintaining manufacturing or packaging equipment.
  • Ability to interpret production documentation, work orders, and quality requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to use manufacturing, maintenance, and quality management systems.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment and lift up to 65 pounds as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in automotive, bottling, packaging, or similar manufacturing industries.
  • Certification and experience operating multiple types of lift equipment.
  • HAZWOPER training experience.
  • Prior experience leading teams, training operators, or serving as a production line lead.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and maintenance ticketing systems.

Compensation Information:

$22.30 - $26.00
