    PURPOSE:

    Ensure that the correct blend of fibers is properly fed into production; according to safety, hygiene, and quality requirements and customer specifications. Perform quality testing; distributing all results to the Machine Operator and Quality Assurance Specialist. Properly store finished materials in the warehouse, while maintaining a 5S organizational structure.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Fiber Processing

    • Supply the production line with the fibers necessary to fulfill production orders
    • Operate fiber processing unit to prepare raw materials for production
    • Determine the appropriate fiber blend to fulfill production requirements and specifications
    • Perform quality inspection on fiber bales. Inspect packaging for damage and fibers for contamination. Report any findings
    • Monitor raw material inventory
    • Remove packaging and separate recyclable materials from waste. Properly dispose of these materials, according to procedures
    • Record movement of raw material data into ERP system and mixing orders
    • Monitor carding and operating materials
    • Set and adjust equipment for fiber processing, blending, and carding
    • Set, operate, and monitor production equipment, such as the milling machine, bale opener, and blending chamber
    • Identify, substantiate, record, and report any malfunctions
    • Perform maintenance activities and cleaning activities on production equipment
    • Handover information regarding the current shift, to the oncoming shift. This should include information about the current fiber blend, additional fiber bales needed, time at which the next bales are required, and any preparations of fibers for the next shift.
    • Document data pertaining to fiber preparation and processing, to facilitate an efficient process
    • Perform all duties according to safety, hygiene, and quality standards; outlined by company policy and customer specifications
    • Assist Machine Operators with the retraction of fibers and/or if there is a disruption

    Quality

    • Responsible for learning the quality testing procedures and maintaining up to date knowledge and skill
    • Correctly test samples and report any out of specification material to the Machine Operator on duty
    • Ensure that any out of specification findings are properly documented and given to the QA Specialist
    • Ensure that the required number of samples are received each shift for testing
    • Communicate with Quality Assurance Specialist regarding all testing processes, issues, and results
    • Ensure that the QMS conforms to ISO 9001:2015
    • Ensure processes are delivering intended outcomes
    • Report to Top Management on the performance of the QMS; on opportunities for improvement; on change requirements; on innovations
    • Ensure the promotion of customer focus
    • Ensure the integrity of the QMS is maintained

    Packaging of Recyclable Materials

    • Operate bailer to package recyclable materials
    • Store bales in the appropriate Warehouse location for distribution to recycling company

    Warehouse/Logistics

    • Load the production line with appropriate raw materials
    • Monitor and control raw materials inventory
    • Inspect and confirm appropriate packaging and labelling of finished goods
    • Distinguish between different customers and stacks by bundle labels
    • Properly print and apply customized labels to the finished goods, according to customer specifications
    • Unload packaging line with finished goods
    • Scan each bundle to the correct bay location, and stack finished bundles in a uniform, straight line, without damaging the bundles
    • Optimize storage locations to ensure efficiency and organization, and according to 5S systematic organization in the warehouse

    Position Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

    • Basic mathematical skills
    • Experience in ERP/MES system, preferred
    • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, preferred
    • Knowledge of safe work practices and OSHA standards
    • Willing and able to obtain additional qualifications and training
    • Willingness to learn and be coachable, concerning all job responsibilities
    • Experience operating a Powered Industrial Truck, preferred
    • Willingness to share/communicate knowledge of working tasks with others, once training is complete
