Machine Operator

This position is responsible for bending, cutting specific sheet metal material for the assembly of hollow metal frames with the use of press brake, shears, and punch press and/or spot weld machines. Accuracy and fabrication are very important as most of the work involves modifications including such items as preparing for locksets, hinges, glass kits, access control devices and other such products.

Essential Functions

Assembly/fabrication of hollow metal frame parts by operation of press brake, shears, punch press and/or spot weld machinesStart and stop equipmentLoad and unload materials from machines, carts, and dolliesFeed or place items into equipment for processingEnsure conformance to specificationsRecognize and report quality issues to your supervisorFrequent work saw cutting, grinding and sanding related materialsMust maintain a high level of accuracy, efficiency and safety while ensuring quality standards by way of in-process inspections

Minimum Qualifications

Experience operating press brake, shears, punch press and/or spot weld machines preferredExperience in metal forming and parts layout preferredBasic construction knowledge with specific experience related to hollow metal and commercial hardware applications strongly preferredMust pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Ability to read a tape measure, calipers and other toolsDetail orientedStrong troubleshooting and problem solving skillsGood communication skills requiredAbility to work independently, efficiently and meet deadlines

Physical DemandsSpends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Work EnvironmentConditions will include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
