    Machinery Technician

    Reports To: Maintenance Lead/Manager

    Department: Maintenance

    Location: Lithia Springs, GA

    Job Summary

    The Machinery Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery and support systems. This role ensures optimal performance of production equipment through preventive maintenance, installation, and repair activities, while adhering to safety standards and company guidelines.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Troubleshoot, test, repair, and service electrical, hydraulic, electronic, pneumatic, chilled water, and material handling systems, as well as other production support equipment.
    • Perform preventive maintenance on all production equipment per written PM instructions.
    • Install machinery under the guidance of the Plant Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, and Machinery Lead Technician.
    • Fabricate and install safety devices, access platforms, water systems, and electrical services.
    • Rig, install, and test injection molding machinery and related support equipment.
    • Train others on specific tasks as needed.
    • Work under general supervision with latitude for creativity, initiative, and independent judgment.
    • Follow established guidelines and instructions to ensure safe and efficient operations.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Trade school or two-year college degree in industrial mechanics required.
    • 2-4 years of hands-on experience in an industrial setting.
    • Formal training in industrial mechanics required.
    • Specialized training in maintenance crafts highly desirable.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong knowledge of industrial machinery mechanics, electricity, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and pipefitting.
    • Skilled in solvent welding of PVC pipe and fittings, metal cutting, welding, brazing, rigging, and safety procedures.
    • Qualified to work on electrical systems up to 480 volts per NDS-defined procedures.
    • Familiarity with safe operation of hand tools, power tools, and industrial maintenance equipment.
    • Certified forklift operator.
    • Clean DMV record.

    Physical Demands & Work Conditions

    • Ability to stand, stretch, bend, walk, lift, and transport up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to climb stairs and silo ladders up to 40 feet.
    • Exposure to oils, lubricants, chemicals, cleaning agents, paint, welding fumes, and high noise levels.
    • Non-smoking environment.
    • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Standard schedule: 40 hours per week (may include overtime and weekends).

    Additional Requirements

    • Must provide standard hand tools and toolbox (see attached Tool List).
    • Must wear steel-toed protective footwear during all work hours.
    • Must wear company-provided eye and hearing protection.
    • Must adhere to all company safety rules and proactively protect self, coworkers, and company assets.
