Machinist 2

Major Aerospace Company is looking for a Machinist 2 to support our machine shop and brazing department.
This position will serve on-site at Hopkinton, MA 01748.
 
Responsibilities:
Silver torch braze brass flanges onto waveguide, braze copper fittings onto brass plates, and 1/2 coolant lines. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as DPM milling machines, cold saw, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to Client out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
 
Basic Qualifications for Machinist 2:
Silver torch brazing
Set up and operate a Southwestern DPM with ProtoTrak controls
Deburring, Dagging
 
Preferred Qualifications for Machinist 2
Experience with aluminum and copper waveguide components
Fixturing parts for vacuum brazing
 
This position is intended to be contracted to hire. While this is our intent, this is not a promise to hire. This contract position aligns with our full-time role of a Machinist 2.
