We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist III to independently set up, operate, and optimize CNC lathes and/or multi-axis vertical and horizontal machining centers. This advanced role produces complex, high-precision components while ensuring all work meets blueprint, quality, and production requirements.

The CNC Machinist III will troubleshoot machining issues, improve cycle times and repeatability, and collaborate with CNC programmers to refine Mastercam programs. This individual will also help integrate new equipment, develop tooling and workholding solutions, and mentor junior machinists. The position offers a potential career path into CNC programming or manufacturing engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate CNC lathes and/or multi-axis machining centers, including FANUC ROBODRILL equipment

  • Read and interpret complex prints, tolerances, and metric specifications

  • Make offsets, program adjustments, and simple machine-code edits as needed

  • Troubleshoot tooling, toolpaths, surface-finish issues, scrap, and process variation

  • Work with CNC programmers to refine and validate Mastercam programs

  • Perform precision inspections using standard measuring equipment and CMMs when applicable

  • Support first-article and first-piece inspections

  • Design or modify basic tooling, fixtures, and workholding

  • Improve cycle time, process capability, repeatability, and scrap rates

  • Create setup sheets, work instructions, and inspection documentation

  • Train and mentor less-experienced machinists

  • Maintain shop safety and 5S standards

Qualifications

  • 6–8 years of CNC machining experience

  • At least 3 years working with multi-axis machining centers and/or CNC lathes

  • Experience performing complex setups independently

  • Working knowledge of Mastercam, including making program adjustments

  • Experience with FANUC controls

  • Advanced blueprint reading and precision-measurement skills

  • Experience machining materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and plastics preferred

  • Familiarity with metric manufacturing processes and documentation preferred

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering is helpful but not required

This is a non-exempt position requiring the ability to stand or walk for most of the shift and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
