Machinist Internship - Oregon, IL

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various types of machine tools such as lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, etc., selecting proper feeds and speeds
• Work from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions to make components
• Work to close tolerances
• Use precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work
• Perform hand operations such as filing, fitting, tapping, etc.
• Keep work area and equipment clean
• Ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization.
• And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be an active student enrolled in a machinist program at an accredited college
• Mechanical aptitude
• Basic mathematic skills
• Some knowledge of precision measuring devices preferred
• Some knowledge of reading blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings preferred
• Some knowledge of Machine Shop practices is a plus
• Attention to detail a must
• Safety minded
