We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes in a precision manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting blueprints, performing machine setups, adjusting feeds and speeds, installing tooling, and inspecting finished components to ensure they meet strict quality requirements.
Experience with Mazak machine controls is a major plus, particularly candidates with Y-axis machining experience.
Candidates should be comfortable working independently with limited guidance while contributing to a team-oriented production environment.
Set up and operate CNC lathes and other conventional or numerically controlled machining equipment.
Perform machine setups, tooling installation, and machine adjustments.
Operate multiple production machines when needed.
Adjust feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to maintain part quality.
Machine, shape, cut, drill, ream, deburr, and rework precision components.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and production documentation.
Inspect machined components using micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
Perform in-process inspections and maintain tight manufacturing tolerances.
Identify tooling wear, machine issues, and production problems.
Perform routine equipment maintenance.
Follow manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures.
Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
Minimum 3 years of related machining experience.
Hands-on CNC lathe setup and operating experience.
Ability to perform machine setups independently with limited guidance.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
Knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including basic trigonometry.
Experience with tooling installation and machine adjustments.
Familiarity with precision inspection equipment.
Ability to maintain quality and tight tolerances.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Mazak machine control experience.
Y-axis machining experience.
Aerospace or high-precision manufacturing background.
G-code programming, editing, or troubleshooting.
Experience with Mastercam, NX, Fusion 360, or CATIA.
Experience machining titanium, Inconel, aluminum, or stainless steel.
Familiarity with GD&T, AS9100, FAI/AS9102, and SPC.
Experience with multi-axis machining.
The strongest candidates will have:
Hands-on CNC lathe setup experience, not just machine operation.
Experience with Mazak controls.
Y-axis machining knowledge.
Experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
Ability to read blueprints and inspect tight-tolerance components.
Important distinction: Unlike the previous requisition, this role requires three years of machining experience, not five. Do not automatically screen out qualified three- or four-year machinists.
