Direct Hire | 60 Openings | Ogden, UT

Position Overview

Parker Hannifin's Commercial Flight Controls Division is seeking highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinists to join its manufacturing operation in Ogden, Utah. These are direct-hire opportunities supporting the production of precision components for the aerospace industry.

This opportunity is designed for experienced machinists who can do more than simply operate a machine. Successful candidates should be comfortable with machine setup, tooling, offsets, process adjustments, blueprint interpretation, precision inspection, troubleshooting, and machining close-tolerance components with limited supervision.

The ideal candidates will have a strong background in CNC machining, with particular interest in individuals experienced with Swiss lathes, grinding, CNC mills, and/or manual machining. Candidates should be able to independently evaluate machining conditions, troubleshoot production issues, make adjustments, and maintain the quality and efficiency of their work.

This is NOT an Entry-Level Machine Operator Position

We are specifically seeking experienced CNC Machinists who can independently perform complex setups and machining operations.

Compensation

Desired Pay Range: $20–$40/hour DOE

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's skills, machining experience, technical capabilities, and overall qualifications.

Important Recruiting Note: Share the $20–$40/hour range with candidates. Do not tell a candidate they are guaranteed a specific hourly rate.


Available Shifts

Weekend Shift

Friday–Sunday | 5:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • 36 hours per week
  • $6/hour shift differential
  • Three-day work schedule

Swing Shift

Monday–Thursday | 3:00 PM–1:30 AM

  • Four-day work schedule
  • Shift differential applies

Candidates should be clearly informed of the schedule and applicable shift differential during the initial conversation.


Relocation Assistance

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates relocating to the Ogden, Utah area.

Relocation Assistance: Up to $7,500 gross
Approximate after-tax amount: $5,000

Position Responsibilities

The Machinist Technician will set up and operate a variety of conventional and numerically controlled machining centers while working on complex, close-tolerance production components.

CNC Machine Setup & Operation

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC and conventional machining equipment.
  • Perform complex setups involving multiple workpiece stations and standard or custom workholding devices.
  • Run multiple machines efficiently, including simultaneous operations when required.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding.
  • Make necessary machine adjustments and offsets within established procedures.
  • Monitor machining operations and make process adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Adapt or modify tooling when necessary to achieve required machining results.

Precision Machining

  • Machine components requiring tight dimensional tolerances, complex contours, dimensional relationships, and specific surface-finish requirements.
  • Apply strong knowledge of production machining techniques, tooling, materials, and shop practices.
  • Work with a variety of production machines, materials, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Develop or refine machining processes when documentation is limited.
  • Troubleshoot machining problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.

Blueprint & Engineering Interpretation

  • Read and interpret:
    • Blueprints
    • Complex engineering drawings
    • Engineering specifications
    • Planning sheets
    • Quality requirements
    • Charts and tables
    • Sketches
    • Verbal instructions
  • Understand dimensional requirements, tolerances, surface finishes, and other manufacturing specifications.
  • Identify potential drawing or process issues and communicate them appropriately.

Engineering & Process Support

  • Interface directly with Engineering to resolve drawing discrepancies and manufacturing issues.
  • Recommend potential design or process improvements.
  • Assist Engineering with developing effective manufacturing processes.
  • Provide input regarding tooling requirements and may assist with tooling design.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, quality, and cost.

Quality & Inspection

  • Machine and inspect parts to ensure they meet customer and engineering specifications.
  • Perform in-process and final inspection using precision measuring equipment, including:
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Precision gauges
    • Comparators
    • Surface plates
    • Other inspection equipment
  • May operate or utilize CMM equipment.
  • Monitor dimensions and tolerances throughout the machining process.
  • Ensure inspection equipment is properly calibrated and used according to requirements.
  • Perform statistical process control (SPC) activities as required.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Routinely maintain machining equipment to support cleanliness, accuracy, reliability, and production performance.
  • Identify equipment issues and troubleshoot problems when appropriate.
  • Maintain tools, fixtures, machines, and work areas in proper operating condition.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Actively participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve:

    • Workflow
  • Recommend and implement process improvements within the work area.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational goals.

Team Support & Leadership

  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to less-experienced machinists.
  • Train and mentor other team members as needed.
  • Serve as a technical resource within the machining area.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years of directly related machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong CNC machining experience is required.
  • Experience with complex machining setups strongly preferred.
  • Aerospace, defense, medical device, or other precision manufacturing experience is highly desirable.

  • Work safely around CNC machinery, tooling, materials, and production equipment.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Maintain regular attendance and reliable work performance.
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with other team members.
