Maintenance and Grounds Technician

Deffenbaugh Homes is looking for a responsible Maintenance and Grounds Technician to keep properties, jobsites, and equipment clean, organized, safe, and well maintained. This position performs a wide variety of groundskeeping, maintenance, construction support, renovation, snow removal, and equipment repair tasks throughout the year.

This position requires a reliable, self-motivated, hands-on individual who can recognize what needs to be done and take care of it without constant direction and supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Mow, trim, weed eat, and maintain company properties and grounds
• Maintain and clean silt fencing and other jobsite erosion control measures
• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including planting and caring for trees and landscaping
• Perform snow and ice removal from company properties and other areas as needed
• Keep company shop and storage areas organized
• Inspect equipment and identify maintenance or repair needs
• Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on company equipment
• Perform basic carpentry work and assist with renovation projects as needed

Knowledge and Skills

• General knowledge of property and grounds maintenance
• Basic understanding of construction and building maintenance
• Ability to safely operate lawn and grounds equipment
• Basic mechanical and equipment repair skills
• Basic carpentry and general repair skills
• Ability to use common hand and power tools
• Ability to troubleshoot problems
• Reliable and dependable
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks and learn new skills

Qualifications

• 2+ years of maintenance, construction, groundskeeping, mechanical or related experience preferred
• Experience with small engines, equipment, or general mechanical repair preferred
• Construction or carpentry experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to operate company vehicles and equipment safely
• Ability to lift 75 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks without constant supervision
