Job Title: Maintenance Electrician-Journeyman
Location: Milwaukee, WI 53233
Shift: M-F: 6am – 4:30pm
Pay: $29.00–$44.00/hour
Hire Type: Direct Hire

Overview: Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading manufacturer to hire a Maintenance Electrician Journeyman. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and installing electrical systems and industrial equipment throughout a manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical experience, a Journeyman Electrician license, and the ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of production equipment while supporting continuous plant operations. 

Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and manufacturing equipment.
  • Plan and install wiring, conduit, and power distribution for 480V three-phase, 240V, and single-phase electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair motors, transformers, control panels, electrical components, and automated equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production machinery and facility electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals, and work orders.
  • Support equipment installations, relocations, and facility improvement projects.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues on conveyors, CNC equipment, robots, welders, and other manufacturing machinery.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Order replacement parts and coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, PPE, forklift, and electrical safety requirements.
  • Partner with production teams to support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives. 
Qualifications:
  • Journeyman Electrician License or Industrial Journeyman License required.
  • Associate degree from a technical school or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2–5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting 480V three-phase electrical systems and power distribution.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Experience performing electrical calculations for transformers, conductors, breakers, and fusing.
  • Working knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and preventative maintenance skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
Preferred Skills:
  • PLC troubleshooting and programming experience.
  • Welding, cutting, brazing, or metal fabrication experience.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • CNC machinery or machining center maintenance.
  • HVAC, refrigeration, air compressor, or compressed air system experience.
  • Experience with plasma or laser cutting equipment.
  • Forklift, scissor lift, or mobile equipment operation experience.
