Maintenance Engineer I - Engineering - FT Varying Shifts

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Three (3) years’ experience in maintenance, electrical or mechanical field required; knowledge of methods and techniques used in electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance; knowledge of electrical and building codes preferred; Possession of valid Oregon driver’s license; excellent driving record and ability to be insured by the hospital’s auto insurance policy.

Preferred:  Electrical/plumbing license.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Medium-heavy to Very Heavy physical demand level capabilities required.  Must be able to work independently as well as with co-workers and patients.  Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently.  The mental demands are Medium-Heavy to Very Heavy according to work load.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Inspects, tests, adjusts and repairs all Physical Plant machinery, heating, cooling, piping and electrical systems, and records maintenance in accordance with schedules.
• Operates and maintains all Physical plant machinery and equipment.
• Replaces, repairs and calibrates HVAC components, and replaces filters.
• Constructs and repairs building structure, walls, floor, ceiling, cabinets and furniture.
• Tests and operates emergency generators.
• Inspects, tests, cleans, and may repair fire equipment, alarms, switches, and sensors.
• Inspects, adjusts and repairs miscellaneous hospital equipment including beds, autoclaves, centrifuge, meat slicers and ovens.
• Maintains record of all inspections, tests, and repairs.
• Performs security checks of building, parking lot and equipment.
• Removes ice and snow from walkways, roads, and parking lot during winter months.
• Responds to safety and security calls.
• Inventories orders and changes medical gases and LOX.
• Maintains competency in all position responsibilities.
• Demonstrates competence in relation to the defined mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the organization. This will be apparent by ongoing completion of any or all of the following:  proficiency testing, skill demonstration, practice of core standards for service excellence, and documentation review.
• While performing job tasks, demonstrates awareness of age specific practices of the customer(s).
