We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead our maintenance, equipment reliability, and manufacturing engineering functions. You will own equipment problems end to end on the floor, work them with Manufacturing with urgency, and walk the floor daily to catch issues before they cause downtime.
This is a working leadership role. You will troubleshoot PLC programs and fault codes, read electrical and mechanical schematics, and work electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic problems yourself, not only through a vendor. You will also build a proactive preventative maintenance and equipment reliability program, and develop a skilled, accountable maintenance team.
What You Will Do
Lead the maintenance team and own the preventative maintenance strategy, PM schedules, asset tracking, and work order system.
Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly, keep Production informed of the impact and estimated time to recovery, and agree on clear priorities when more than one machine is down.
Use equipment data, root-cause analysis, and Lean principles to reduce repeat failures and downtime, and track OEE on key equipment.
Carry forward our TPM program with Manufacturing, with operators handling basic care and Maintenance handling troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair.
Own equipment installations, upgrades, and capital projects through handoff, including measurements, CAD layout, fit verification, utilities, commissioning, SOPs, and training.
Keep current backups of all PLC and HMI programs, with a record of every change.
Build troubleshooting guides for each machine and store schematics and manuals in a shared maintenance system.
Manage vendors, critical spare parts levels, tool life tracking, and maintenance budgets, and ensure packing slips and invoices are matched to POs and sent to accounting on time.
Oversee facility and building systems, including power, HVAC, roof, grounds, and the building alarm.
Train, cross-train, and coach technicians, and set up after-hours and weekend on-call coverage.
Partner with Production, Operations, Safety, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve throughput, capacity, and safety.
What You Bring
Required
Hands-on troubleshooting of PLC programs and fault codes, electrical and mechanical schematics, and electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
Strong floor presence and a sense of urgency when equipment is down
Equipment reliability and root-cause analysis experience
TPM experience
Proven ability to lead and develop technicians
A strong safety mindset
CAD skills for plant layout and equipment fit
Preferred
Automation design experience
Tooling life program experience
Capital project and budget experience
CMMS and equipment data experience
What Success Looks Like
Equipment is reliable: PMs are completed consistently, repeat failures decline, and unplanned downtime drops.
Production is supported with fast response and minimal disruption.
Maintenance, shutdowns, and spare parts are planned rather than reactive.
Technicians are trained, accountable, and increasingly capable of solving problems on their own.
Leadership has clear visibility into downtime, PM performance, and equipment risks.
Improvements become standard processes, not temporary fixes.
Your First 90 Days
You will be on the floor for every down call, get work orders and PMs running cleanly, put PLC backups in place, and set baselines and targets for key metrics with leadership.
Why Join Us
You will have real ownership of a function that directly drives safety, output, and growth, with the support of leadership and cross-functional partners who value reliability and continuous improvement.
We are an equal opportunity employer.
