Maintenance Helper

Position Overview:

The Hilton Garden Inn Albany/SUNY is seeking an experienced Maintenance Helper ! As part of the Maintenance team, this position performs all necessary repairs in maintaining the hotel's facilities, equipment, and grounds. This position supports preventive maintenance programs, performs basic repairs, and helps ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist maintenance technicians with repairs and maintenance projects.
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and HVAC support tasks.
• Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities.
• Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
• Replace light bulbs, air filters, batteries, and other basic building components.
• Help maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Support efforts to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of maintenance areas.
• Assist with repairs to furniture, fixtures, doors, locks, and windows.
• Help with landscaping, snow removal, and exterior property maintenance as needed.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies for hotel operations and events.
• Follow all hotel safety standards and maintenance procedures.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA and company regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous maintenance, construction, or facilities experience preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when assigned tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
