To perform maintenance functions at manufacturing facilities located in Utah; work with
outside contractors; coordinate and assist and perform equipment maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work with production associates and supervisors to improve efficiencies
Perform regular checks on production equipment
Lubricate and check all motors on a daily basis or as required
Assure boiler is being appropriately maintained
Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Program
Coordinate and be available for “on-call” maintenance help during production hours
Maintain critical inventory levels of all parts and equipment needed for production
Order parts after verifying best pricing
Keep the maintenance shop and work areas clean and organized as per GMP/ISO requirements
Assist manager(s) with budget items striving to maintain budget numbers
Work with manager(s) to determine and address maintenance needs
Assist in problem diagnosis; confer with contractors and sales representatives as needed
Assist with production and product handling when necessary
Be an available resource for facility remodeling projects
Responsible for self-involvement, team involvement and execution of tasks relative to achieving annual departmental goals
Install, repair & program machines and equipment
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred with 3-5 year’s maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, understanding and knowledge of PLC’s
Knowledge of and skilled in the safe execution of the following: electrical, electronic test equipment; mechanical and production equipment repair, operating procedures and techniques; plumbing; use of power and basic hand tools; HVAC; welding (stainless steel)
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Boiler operations certified preferred and knowledge of OSHA regulations and Programmable Logic Controller Skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing environment with exposure to powder mineral products, cleaning chemicals, restricted movement, dirty environment, hazardous materials, lifting and carrying heavy objects
In accordance with the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29CFR 1910.134) Balchem employees (Production, Quality, R&D, and Maintenance) are required to successfully complete annual fit testing (clean shaven req.) and medical clearance (respirator medical certification)
In addition, when required to wear a respirator, wearers must wear it as they fit tested (clean shaven)
