Job Class/Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic 2
THE POSITION
The Maintenance Mechanic 2 position is responsible for performing skilled, journey-level work across multiple trades to support the maintenance, repair, construction, and improvement of college facilities, grounds, and equipment. The incumbent applies a broad working knowledge of disciplines including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and mechanical systems to inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair buildings, infrastructure, equipment and machinery. This role includes performing preventative maintenance, supporting renovation and construction projects, and diagnosing and resolving issues to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient campus operations. Reporting to the Director of Capital Planning and Maintenance, the position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical connections, switches, circuits, electrical equipment, thermostats, and valves
Performs maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings
Performs maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as kitchen, laundry, laboratory, and HVAC systems
Repair, remodel, and construct building components including framing, drywall, painting, cabinetry, doors, and finish work
Install, maintain, and repair plumbing, electrical, and mechanical fixtures and associated equipment
Performs preventative maintenance such as oil change, lubrication, fix flats, repair lights, replace fan belts, etc., on shop equipment, vehicles and construction equipment
Operates hand tools, power tools and other shop equipment; performs welding and metal fabrication; fabricates materials and equipment
Operate equipment for snow and ice removal and other grounds-related needs as required
Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and technical diagrams
Assists with campus emergency response as needed
Monitor and operate building systems such as lighting controls, thermostats, energy management systems, fire alarm and suppression systems, and HVAC and mechanical controls.
Utilize standard software and computerized maintenance management systems
Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned
