Job Purpose
Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Maintenance team.
The Maintenance Mechanic plays a key role in keeping production and facility operations running safely and efficiently. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to repair, install, and maintain a wide variety of industrial equipment and systems in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
Principal Accountabilities
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment and systems.
Ability to interpret written instructions, diagrams, schedules, manuals, and schematic drawings.
Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical devices and systems preferred.
Experience with lockout/tagout procedures and safe maintenance practices.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, production needs, and unexpected equipment issues.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Willingness to learn and work across a variety of maintenance disciplines and equipment systems including:
Pump repair experience, including positive displacement and centrifugal pumps preferred.
Welding experience using SMAW and GTAW processes with steel and stainless steel preferred.
Pipe fitting experience with threaded and welded piping systems including steel, stainless steel, and fiberglass preferred.
Safely perform physical tasks including gripping, twisting, climbing ladders and stairs, squatting, standing, walking, and working in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly and move or roll 55-gallon drums.
Ability to read small print and distinguish colors accurately.
Ability to work with hazardous materials and industrial equipment when necessary.
