Lead, Develop, and Drive Reliability
Lief Labs is looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic II who not only excels technically, but also takes pride in mentoring others, building team capability, and driving best practices in a fast-paced cGMP manufacturing environment.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of equipment reliability while serving as a go-to resource and informal leader on the maintenance team, guiding technicians, supporting operators, and helping elevate overall plant performance. You’ll play a key role in developing preventative maintenance strategies, troubleshooting complex systems, and fostering a culture rooted in safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Lead by example on the floor—modeling safe behaviors, strong troubleshooting practices, and a sense of ownership
- Mentor and support junior technicians and operators by transferring technical knowledge and developing skills across the team
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment in a high-speed cGMP environment, minimizing downtime
- Drive execution of Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective Maintenance programs to improve reliability
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Engineering to:
- Conduct root cause analysis (5 Whys)
- Support change management and deviation investigations
- Improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Interpret and work from schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation (electrical, pneumatic, mechanical)
- Support equipment improvements, part fabrication, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure accurate, timely completion of work orders and documentation in CMMS systems, maintaining cGMP compliance
- Promote and maintain 5S standards and an organized, audit-ready work environment
What You Bring
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in cGMP or highly regulated environments preferred
- Strong background in break-fix troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
- Hands-on experience with PLC-controlled equipment
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical systems (460 VAC 3-phase & 110 VAC control circuits)
- Mechanical systems, hydraulics, and fluid power
- PLC troubleshooting and controls
- Ohm’s Law and electrical diagnostics
- Ability to perform complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs
Leadership & Professional Skills
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop others on the floor
- Strong commitment to safety (LOTO) and quality systems in a cGMP environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Highly organized, adaptable, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced, production-driven setting
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Work Environment
- Fast-paced cGMP manufacturing environment requiring strict adherence to quality and documentation standards
- Exposure to food-grade raw materials and common allergens
- Moderate noise levels with regular interaction with production equipment
Physical Requirements
- Active, hands-on role requiring standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting
- Ability to lift up to 33 lbs occasionally
- Frequent exposure to moving equipment, varying temperatures, and industrial conditions
