Penn Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Langhorne, PA.
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, mechanical repairs, equipment changeovers, and troubleshooting in support of pharmaceutical manufacturing and facility operations. This role is responsible for maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing operational downtime, and supporting equipment installations and qualification activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting experience, and the ability to perform maintenance work safely and accurately within a cGMP-regulated environment.
This position's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Set up, adjust, inspect, maintain, and mechanically support manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform product, size, and format changeovers in accordance with approved procedures and production requirements.
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical equipment failures while identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Support equipment installations, modifications, inspections, qualifications, validations, and requalification activities in coordination with Engineering, Production, and Quality.
- Complete equipment logs, work orders, CMMS entries, and other maintenance documentation accurately and in accordance with cGMP, Good Documentation Practices, and ALCOA+ principles.
- Maintain equipment, tools, mechanical areas, and workspaces in a clean, organized, safe, and inspection-ready condition while promptly reporting quality concerns and safety hazards.
We are looking for applicants with:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance, industrial equipment, electromechanical technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, regulated manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and completing changeovers on manufacturing, production, packaging, or facility equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated knowledge of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, mechanical systems, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret SOPs, technical manuals, equipment drawings, maintenance procedures, and production-related documentation.
- Working knowledge of cGMP requirements, Good Documentation Practices, data integrity principles, and maintenance documentation within a regulated environment.
- Effective troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and obtain gowning qualification for controlled environments.
