    Description

    Thompson First Group is seeking Maintenance Mechanics for direct hire opportunities with a local manufacturing client.

    Candidates with experience performing industrial mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, repairing conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems are encouraged to apply. This is a hands-on role supporting critical manufacturing equipment in a heavy industrial environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Accident prevention – actively identify, correct, and/or report safety hazards to prevent accidents.
    • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial mechanical equipment.
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, fans, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
    • Replace bearings, seals, couplings, chains, sprockets, belts, and other mechanical components as needed.
    • Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new machinery and plant equipment.
    • Perform precision alignment of motors, gearboxes, pumps, and other rotating equipment.
    • Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, equipment rebuilds, and major maintenance projects.
    • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, equipment manuals, and work instructions.
    • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to maintenance plans and work orders.
    • Document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts usage accurately.
    • Monitor equipment performance and identify recurring issues requiring corrective action.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
    • Work closely with electricians, automation technicians, production personnel, and contractors to resolve equipment issues.
    • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
    • Lift maintenance tools, equipment, and components as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Technical Certificate or Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a related field preferred.
    • Previous industrial mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing, metals, steel, or heavy industrial environment.
    • Strong knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, seals, rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
    • Experience with equipment installation, alignment, troubleshooting, and repair.
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment with exposure to moving machinery, high temperatures, noise, confined spaces, and electrical equipment.
    • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
