Job Summary and Qualifications

Works under the supervision of the Facilities Management Director. Inspects, repairs and maintains building components including plumbing, wall surfaces, non-clinical patient care equipment, floors, ceilings, lights, etc

  • Maintains equipment such as beds, lights, sinks, toilets, etc. maintenance on equipment as assigned. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as assigned
  • Cleans work area and workshop; plunges toilets and snakes drains when necessary. 
  • Maintains floor machines; greases fan motors; inspects and safety checks dietary equipment; checks pump and motor operation in various areas of hospital complex. 
  • Repairs patient electrical and mechanical beds, flush-o-meters, gas and oxygen leaks, fire doors and steam leaks. 
  • Replaces bulbs as needed and/or makes necessary repairs to fixtures; repairs various types of electrical cords as needed; cleans fixtures on a regular basis. 
  • Replaces fuses, floor tiles and toilet seats; resets circuit breakers; installs sinks toilets, etc.; orders needed materials; inspects and repairs handrails. 
  • Disposes of hazardous materials according to proper policy guidelines; never takes shortcuts that may endanger safety regulations. 
  • Ensures a safe, clean and attractive environment for patient, staff and visitors at all times. 
  • Carries out stat orders - immediately. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to repair or replace all piping (water or steam), plumbing fixtures, chairs or other maintenance requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read blueprints or drawings.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of hand and power tools, precision measuring and testing instruments.

What qualifications you will need:
  • High School Graduate / GED, or Vocational School Graduate
  • Progressive experience in institutional maintenance.
