Tesla is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join the Production Engineering team at the Gigafactory in Sparks, NV. We are seeking an energetic, skilled, cost-conscious, team-oriented individual to be responsible for the performance of equipment and maintenance technicians on shift. The incumbent will manage a team of technicians to ensure they perform at a high level while meeting the needs of the Energy production lines. The individual will be responsible for all production engineering-related metrics for their shift (MTTR, MTBF, Response Times, etc.). They will manage the performance of their team to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability within the group.
Hire, coach, lead and develop a team of technicians that maintain manufacturing equipment at Gigafactory Nevada
Monitor metrics and Key Performance Indicator s (KPI s) to assess Safety, People, Quality, Cost and Productivity. Focus to Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Response Times
Drive improvement activities across the shift to increase team knowledge and skill capability, while working with equipment engineering to increase equipment uptime, availability and decrease scrap and NCM material
Align with Engineering team to provide support for new equipment installation, startup, and hand over
Improve preventative maintenance activities to decrease overall downtime. Troubleshoot down equipment using root cause analysis and suggest long-term countermeasures for elimination of the failure mode
Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and written/verbal instructions
Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams' safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations
1+ years of supervisory experience is preferred
Demonstratable experience with Fanuc robots, to include teaching and fault recovery. PLC troubleshooting ability and experience. Fabrication experience using extrusion and welded/milling equipment
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial electrical panels/systems
Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
Able to wear all required PPE associated with required tasks
Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 10+ hours per day, wear air purifying respirator as needed for specific tasks, Lift at least 20 lbs. on a regular basis, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and sometimes may have to twist and bend body, and climb ladders/stairs
