Summary
Supervisor-level role that is 100% hands-on. The Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production, packaging, refrigeration, and facility equipment in a USDA/FSIS-inspected meat processing environment. This role supports plant uptime, food safety, and compliance while working directly on machinery and leading maintenance priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform hands-on corrective and preventive maintenance on production, packaging, refrigeration, and facility equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electronic systems.
Read electrical drawings, trace circuits, and diagnose equipment failures independently.
Act as first responder for unplanned downtime and equipment breakdowns.
Maintain and troubleshoot industrial refrigeration systems; coordinate with licensed contractors when required.
Support equipment changeovers, setups, and minor modifications.
Supervise and prioritize maintenance activities based on production needs.
Execute and improve preventive maintenance programs.
Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation.
Enforce safety procedures including lockout/tagout and electrical safety.
Ensure compliance with USDA/FSIS, GMP, SSOP, and HACCP requirements.
