Maintenance Technician – Food Manufacturing

An established and growing food manufacturing company in the Baltimore area is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join its production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, minimizing downtime, and keeping production running efficiently.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of manufacturing equipment while supporting preventive maintenance initiatives and ensuring compliance with food safety and OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment to minimize production downtime.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
- Maintain and troubleshoot conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and other production equipment.
- Work with PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and machine communications.
- Perform welding, fabrication, cutting, plumbing, carpentry, and general facility repairs as needed.
- Order replacement parts and maintain an organized spare parts inventory to ensure rapid response to equipment failures.
- Coordinate repairs and projects with outside contractors when necessary.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
- Follow and promote all food safety, GMP, HACCP, and OSHA regulations while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Food manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical technology is preferred.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, electrical controls, motors, conveyors, pumps, and industrial machinery.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
