We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team. This individual will be responsible for performing complex mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment installations across a variety of converting and production machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems, along with proven fabrication skills and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical repairs/maintenance on a variety of converting machinery. Troubleshoot mechanical problems as reported by operators. Determine the nature of the problems and the appropriate corrective action to minimize machine down time. Perform complex repairs to machinery such as disassembly and replacements of drive system/gear boxes, various web handling equipment i.e. pneumatic brakes, edge guides, etc., drive gears for anilox rollers and print cylinders, perf sections on bag machines, dryer sections and burner controls on printing presses. Replace broken or worn components in machines. Perform welding and machining of parts and components to specified tolerances and as required to effect repairs. Fabricate various components, machine guards, brackets, and other items for machinery.
  • Work with Engineering group during installation of new production equipment or upgrades to current production equipment
  • Advanced Preventive Maintenance of Production Equipment
  • Inspecting and assessing the functionality of production machines to ensure machines are producing at design specifications
  • Utilize basic Electrical knowledge to make routine electrical repairs
  • Work with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure inventory levels are correct for the plant
  • Participate in safety walk throughs and help drive continuous safety improvements throughout the plants.
  • Provide guidance to Level 2 and level 3 mechanical technicians
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Conduct LOTO when working on equipment
  • Utilization of CMMS system for all work orders.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical prints for all types of machinery.
  • Ability to read and understand manuals, policies, and procedures, as provided by the OEM’s
  • Developed expertise in problem solving, with proven ability to diagnose issues with complex machinery
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey issues to a broad group of customers
  • Knowledge of electrical controls (manufacturing process)
  • Expert user of hand, power tools and measurement devices
  • Good overall fabrication skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, responsible and Safety Oriented individual.
