    Description

    Primary Purpose of Position: 

    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and automated systems to support efficient and uninterrupted production. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, with a proactive approach to equipment reliability and process optimization.


    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    ·        Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines (e.g., Engel, Milacron, etc..) and automation equipment (e.g., robotics, conveyors, pick-and-place systems).

    ·        Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues in production equipment.

    ·        Maintain and troubleshoot auxiliary systems including dryers, chillers, mold temperature controllers, and vacuum systems.

    ·        Support mold changes and setups by ensuring proper alignment and function of mechanical and automated systems.

    ·        Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment efficiency.

    ·        Conduct routine inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

    ·        Assist in installation and commissioning of new machinery or automation upgrades.

    ·        Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce recurring equipment issues.

    ·        Follow all safety protocols and ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

    ·        Other tasks as assigned.

    Requirements:

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    ·        Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

    ·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    ·        Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

    ·        Knowledge of safety protocols and quality control standards.

    ·        Strong proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.


    Education and Experience

    ·        High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.

    ·        3+ years of experience in maintenance within a plastic injection molding environment.

    ·        Strong working knowledge of injection molding machinery and associated automation.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    ·        Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.

    ·        Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

    ·        Experience with PLCs, robotics, and automated manufacturing systems is a plus.

    ·        Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

    ·        Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team.

    ·        Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond effectively to changing priorities.


    Physical Requirements

    ·        Ability to push, pull, lift, move and/or carry up to 50lbs.

    ·        Ability to frequently reach overhead.

    ·        Ability to frequently stoop, bend and kneel.
