The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, facility systems, and supporting infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, improving equipment performance, and supporting continuous improvement across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on machinery, tools, and facility systems.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using proper tools and testing equipment.
Repair or replace defective components such as motors, bearings, sensors, valves, belts, and wiring.
Calibrate, adjust, and align equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly to minimize production downtime.
Work closely with machine operators and supervisors to identify recurring issues.
Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Assist with installation and startup of new equipment.
Preventive Maintenance (PM)
Follow established PM schedules and document all completed work.
Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or potential failures.
Maintain accurate maintenance records in logs or digital systems.
Support continuous improvement of PM procedures.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE guidelines.
Ensure repairs and installations comply with electrical, mechanical, and safety standards.
Report unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, or nearâmiss incidents immediately.
Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
Facility Support
Perform general facility maintenance including lighting, plumbing, HVAC support, and building repairs.
Assist with inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance workspace.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or GED.
2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various environments (heat, noise, heights).
Preferred
Technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or electrical systems.
Experience with PLCs, automation, or control systems.
Welding, fabrication, or machining skills.
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or TPM principles.
