The Pennington School is seeking a Maintenance Technician – HVAC responsible for the overall maintenance of the School community's heating and cooling systems. This position reports to the assistant director of Operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs light maintenance of all heating, cooling, and ventilation systems and completes preventative maintenanceResponds to emergency calls for system and equipment failureTroubleshoots, diagnoses, and orders parts and materials for job completion to ensure safety of systems and trouble-free operationReads blueprints and isometrics, prepares sketches as required to document workPerforms additional duties requested by the supervisor/maintenance manager in order to ensure the effective and efficient operation in the communityParticipates in general maintenance activities on all buildings (not limited to a certain zone or building)Plans, organizes, and schedules the work in a manner consistent with efficient standardsDelivers on-time services to students, faculty, and staff for heat, air conditioning and ventilation in all buildingsRepairs or replaces pumps, filters, valves, controls, sensors, and related componentsMaintains log books pertaining to HVAC equipmentMaintains a clean and orderly mechanical roomMaintain HVAC Equipment to maximize efficiency and extend useful life along with maintaining a healthy environment for building occupants"Performs tasks that are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessaryManages building controls systems ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:Current EPA certification to handle refrigerantsNJ Black Seal licenseHigh school diploma or GED5 plus years of HVAC maintenance experience preferredValid New Jersey driver's licenseAbility to obtain and maintain a commercial driver's license (CDL) with required school bus endorsements, as applicable. Employees required to hold a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing pursuant to federal lawAbility to implement plans and direction and to work effectively under general supervisionAbility to adjust to new industry techniques and become familiar with new equipment as requiredAbility to communicate and work effectively with students, residents, faculty, staff, and colleaguesFlexibility and integrity to work in a collaborative, trust-based environment and to assist in other areas of the department as neededAbility to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and follow all safety protocols, procedures, and applicable regulationsAbility to work effectively in all weather conditions and throughout all seasonsAvailability for overtime and on-call assignments, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and weather-related emergencies, as neededMust successfully complete required background screening and fingerprinting in accordance with New Jersey Department of Education requirements and School policyAbility to perform the physical requirements of the position, including frequent bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, lifting, and walking, and lifting and/or carrying up to 50 poundsThe position requires frequent walking throughout campus and the ability to climb stairs, as not all campus buildings have elevators. The position also requires the ability to perform physical tasks associated with cleaning, maintenance, event setup, snow removal, and other campus needs.Hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The minimum hourly rate for this position is $33.00. The actual offer will be commensurate with skills and experience.
