Performs maintenance duties including responsibility for heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical needs. Provides technical support.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs major and technical repairs and preventative maintenance duties for heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems and equipment.. 2. Duties include light carpentry work, painting, hardware install and repair, and keying. 3. Responds to trouble shooting for equipment and system issues and failures. 4. Inspects buildings to confirm safety standards. 5. Assists third party contractors. 6. Performs technical set up for on-campus college functions including operation of technical equipment. 7. Cleans and maintains all areas pertaining to shops, boiler/chiller rooms, penthouses, electrical closets, storage areas, and related equipment. 8. Participates in developing and updating preventive maintenance program. 9. Works in conjunction with temporary help and clients. 10. Provides time-off relief for others within the Facilities Workers Union/MEA/NEA. 11. Monitors fire and safety protection systems. 12. Operates digital HVAC controls for all buildings and and security systems. 13. May provide on-the-job training for other Physical Plant employees. 14. Ability to calmly thrive under pressure, perform consistently and work with a sense of urgency. 15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Duties: Job Specifications:

High school diploma required. Demonstrated ability to read and write. Additional twelve hours of course work in trade related area preferred. Minimum of four years experience in building/ facility maintenance. Knowledge of operation and repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, computer based systems, building and safety codes, audio and light systems, and related equipment. Certification or license in applicable trades is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills required. Minimum score of 85% as demonstrated on Maintenance Technician Mechanical Aptitude Test (4/5/19) or current State license in an applicable trade. Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials

may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Incumbent may

be exposed to extreme temperatures, close quarter situations, high and precarious places, moving

mechanical parts, and vibrations. Valid driver's license required
