At North Plainfield, we unlock potential and create impact everyday.Qualifications & Description of Position/Responsibilities:To Perform duties related to the general care and maintenance of buildings and grounds.Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and move heavier materials using appropriate equipment.Safely operate and work from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and personnel lifts.Ability to operate a variety of equipment and tools associated with building repair and maintenance, preventive maintenance and construction, in a safe and effective manner.Knowledge of mechanical systems, building materials and emergency maintenance.Keep records of assignments and prepare and complete required work reports.Interact with all job trades in a positive manner. Respond promptly to building emergencies.Mandatory snow removal when required.Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment and keep secure at all times.Perform other duties and assume responsibilities related to the operation of the B & G Dept, as may be assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds or designees. Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. *Must pass 90-day probation period.Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.In possession of a valid Black Seal Boiler Operator's license or higher.Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.Proven knowledge of general maintenance skills.Proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position and ability to use computer equipment to complete reports, generate service orders, maintain inventories, etc. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a school environment with students.Competent in all trades and proficient in at least one of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, tile setting and laying, roofing, painting, cutting and masonry, and concrete work.Salary: $58,150 (minimum) to $72,050 (maximum) commensurate with experienceBenefits as per contract: Medical, dental, flexible spending, paid time off The North Plainfield School District welcomes your interest and looks forward to reviewing your application!EOE/AA
