JOB SUMMARY:

Performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures in accordance with ACR and MQSA standards. Assists with invasive breast procedures, including biopsies and pre-surgical localization procedures. Performs high-quality diagnostic breast and axillary ultrasound examinations according to departmental protocols. Must be able to accurately localize areas of concern by correlating ultrasound findings with mammographic images. Demonstrates strong knowledge of breast anatomy, physiology, and pathology to assist physicians with preliminary image assessment. Must be able to distinguish normal tissue from abnormalities and obtain images in both longitudinal and transverse planes. Participates in invasive breast biopsies, aspirations, and localization procedures. Performs screening breast ultrasound examinations, including Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS), according to departmental and manufacturer protocols. Performs Bone Density (DEXA) procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines.

 

Responsible for all aspects of patient throughput, including but not limited to scheduling, PACS management, procedure preparation and completion, supply inventory, housekeeping, patient check-in/check-out, documentation, and communication with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff. Participates in departmental Quality Improvement initiatives and equipment quality control activities. Adheres to Corporate Compliance requirements, including proper coding, charge capture, and Medical Necessity verification. Performs duties consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Maintains high professional and ethical standards as demonstrated through successful completion of core competencies, clinical competencies, and behavioral expectations. Generally works under the direct supervision of the Mammography Manager/Supervisor but may function independently as needed. Assumes responsibility for call coverage, holiday coverage, and variable shifts as required. Based on patient volume and organizational needs, may be assigned to alternate locations within the healthcare system.

Recognizes that healthcare delivery is continually evolving and that departmental goals and responsibilities may change. Duties and responsibilities may be expanded, modified, or restricted at the discretion of the Department Director.
