The Manager Accounting will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department. Responsibilities include recommending and implementing policies and procedures, preparing and reviewing financial statements, financial filings and reports, managing the monthly financial close, department staffing, project oversight and other essential accounting functions as assigned.Responsibilities Manages and develops accounting staff to achieve departmental objectives including determining staffing needs, setting goals, interviewing, selecting, coaching, and evaluating the performance of all direct reportsEnsures staff is trained and works with department and/or enterprise trainer to develop written training materials and proceduresPrepares and reviews financial statements and financial reportsEvaluates work/project requests to determine feasibility (cost/benefits analysis) and appropriate department resourcesEnsures work and projects are completed within schedules and budgets and takes corrective actions as neededDevelops, monitors, and reconciles an annual departmental operating plan and budgetEstablishes goals and objectives that support the corporate mission and goals, and ensures individual performance goals support departmental goalsCoordinates or facilitates problem solving meetings among department, division and enterprise-wide staff as appropriateFacilitates resolution of escalated problems or issuesRecommends and implements department policies and proceduresQualifications 8+ years of experience w/Bachelor's degree; 1+ years supervisory/management experienceAdvanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, general accounting structure, and statutory accountingStrong organizational, time management, project management, and multi-tasking skillsAdvanced analytical skills and problem solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvementExperience with Oracle Cloud ERP systems is preferredDetail-oriented with strong computational and problem-solving abilitiesKnowledge of insurance industry is preferredKnowledge of insurance products, policies, claims, eligibility and underwriting guidelines is preferredCertified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferredBase Pay Information The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires.
