Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Resource Management: Lead and develop a blended team of internal employees and external contractors. Establish priorities, allocate resources, manage workloads, promote cross-training and ensure appropriate knowledge transfer from consultants to internal staff.
Business Intelligence Leadership: Provide strategic and operational leadership for Microsoft Power BI, including reporting, dashboards, semantic models, workspaces, security, data refresh, deployment, support and governance.
Reporting Application Ownership: Maintain overall application ownership for Power BI, Cetova, Spreadsheet Server, and other reporting or business applications assigned to the team. Ensure applications are effectively supported, maintained and aligned with business requirements.
Reporting Strategy & Governance: Establish standards and best practices for report development, data definitions, access, security, testing, documentation, deployment and lifecycle management. Promote governed self-service reporting while reducing redundant and manually maintained reports.
Data & Analytics Architecture: Partner with ERP, database, infrastructure and other IT teams to ensure reporting platforms have reliable and appropriately governed access to enterprise data. This is particularly important in the existing environment where Power BI uses SQL Server/SSAS-based models and reporting workloads are associated with the ODS environment.
Business Partnership & Requirements Management: Partner with Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Supply Chain and other business functions to understand analytical requirements, identify opportunities for improvement and recommend the appropriate reporting solution.
Project & Demand Management: Manage and prioritize requests for new dashboards, reports, data sources, integrations and application enhancements based on business value, strategic alignment, complexity and available resources.
Platform Performance & Reliability: Monitor reporting platform performance, data refresh processes and application availability. Coordinate troubleshooting and resolution across the application, database, infrastructure and vendor teams.
Application Support: Establish effective support and escalation processes for reporting platforms. The existing RACI Documentation identifies responsibilities across Power BI and Cetova such as application support, access privileges, onboarding, monitoring, project prioritization, implementation, testing and ongoing maintenance.
Application Portfolio Modernization: Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes, consolidate reporting solutions and transition appropriate reporting requirements toward standardized enterprise platforms.
Vendor & Contract Management: Manage external consultants, software vendors and support providers. Oversee deliverables, escalations, product roadmaps, upgrades, licensing considerations and knowledge transfer.
Security, Controls & Compliance: Ensure reporting applications follow appropriate security, access-control, change-management and documentation standards, working with IT Security and business data owners as needed.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate reporting processes, technologies and architecture to improve performance, reliability, usability and the organization's ability to make timely, data-driven decisions.
