Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a MANAGER OF AUDITING & EDUCATION to join our CODING team!

The Manager of Coding Quality & Education is responsible for leading the organization''s coding quality, auditing, and education strategies across hospital, professional fee, and outpatient settings. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and optimized coding through robust audit programs, targeted education for coders and providers, and effective use of Epic and related coding technologies. The manager serves as a strategic partner to Revenue Cycle leadership to support financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and provider engagement. HOURS: Full Time 1.0 FTE, 80 Hours Biweekly

Experience/Qualifications

• Knowledge of general health care business concepts is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor''s or Associate Degree in Health Information Management, Allied Health, Coding, Business, Finance or other health related fields.
• Certification required in one of the following areas:
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
• Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in hospital and/or professional fee coding environments.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in coding, auditing, or education functions.
• Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, E/M coding, and DRG/APR-DRG methodologies.
• Experience analyzing audit data, denial trends, and performance metrics to drive corrective actions.
• Epic system experience is strongly preferred.
• Deep expertise in coding quality, audit methodologies, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate providers and coding professionals.
• Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Provide oversight and strategic support for coding-related denials, including identification of root causes tied to documentation, coding accuracy, and workflow gaps across hospital and professional fee claims.
• Partner with Revenue Cycle, Denials Management, and Patient Financial Services to analyze coding-related denial trends and implement corrective education and Epic build enhancements to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee review and resolution processes for coding-related claim edits and billing errors, ensuring timely correction and feedback loops to coders and providers.
• Leverage Epic tools and reporting (e.g., claim edit workqueues, coding edits, denial reason codes, and analytics) to proactively detect risk, monitor performance, and support denial prevention strategies.
• Support Epic optimization initiatives aligned to coding quality and denial reduction, including refinement of coding edits, workflows, alerts, and reporting dashboards.
• High level of professionalism, accountability, and sound judgment.
• Ensure education and audit programs directly align high-impact denial drivers and claim error trends to measurably reduce preventable denials and rework.
