Manager, Electrical Engineering (On-site)

HEPCO is recruiting an Electrical Engineering Manager for our client in the defense industry. This is a hands-on leadership role managing engineers who support product development and production. You will guide the team through requirements, design, and testing while also contributing directly to program work as a senior electrical engineer.

• Lead, coach, and develop electrical engineers; support hiring, performance management, resource planning, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee requirements development, concept design, detailed design, integration, and product testing.
• Design analog and digital circuits for ruggedized electronics used in ordnance applications.
• Perform circuit analyses using hand calculations and SPICE tools.
• Develop test plans and reports, lead test activities, and investigate failures using structured root cause analysis.
• Lead design reviews, prepare technical documentation, and serve as a technical contact for internal and external customers.
• Provide material and labor estimates for proposals.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 9 years of related experience; graduate degree with at least 7 years; or at least 13 years of related experience without a degree.
• Experience leading engineering teams and taking large technical projects from start to completion.
• Hands-on analog and digital circuit design, including amplifiers, filters, data converters, logic circuits, timers, and serial interfaces such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
• Power supply, power conditioning, and AC/DC, DC/DC, or DC/AC conversion experience.
• Experience with sensors, module design, component selection, circuit analysis, and board layout.
• Ability to troubleshoot with oscilloscopes, function generators, and meters.
• Experience with LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, and schematic capture or board layout tools such as Altium or PADS.
• Knowledge of EMI suppression, ESD protection, short circuit protection, design reviews, technical documentation, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred experience

• BSEE or BS in Computer Engineering with 11+ years of experience, or MSEE or MS in Computer Engineering with 9+ years.
• Design of Electronic Safety and Arming Devices or Ignition Safety Devices under MIL-STD-1316 and MIL-STD-1901A.
• Testing or interfacing with energetic materials, including EFDIs, LEEFIs, lead charges, or boosters.
• Designing electronics for vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity extremes.
