Manager, Environmental Health and Safety

MACOM designs and manufactures semiconductor products for Data Centers, Telecommunication, Industrial and Defense application. The focus of this position is to manage, develop and maintain sustainable Environmental, Health and Safety programs that ensure operational compliance in a Semiconductor industry. The primary objectives are to provide and maintain a safe working environment for our FAB, manufacturing, R&D and general administrative operations in Lowell. The work of the EHS manager will also include industrial hygiene, life safety, and ergonomic compliance-related activities. This position monitors industrial health compliance and will interact with others in the administration of the worker's compensation programs as well as the implementation of workplace ergonomics and program solutions. The primary responsibilities of the EHS manager is to ensure the environmental health and safety of our employees and visitors as well as protect the environment by identifying, controlling or eliminating risks and hazards that could cause injury and illness or cause harm to the environment or business.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage, plan, review and update environmental health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with all Federal, State, and local government regulations as well as company and customer standards.
• Manage and maintain compliance to all OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and municipal guidelines with a specific focus on the Semiconductor business.
• Oversee and conduct EHS audits on a recurring basis with an emphasis on critical areas of operations in a Semiconductor business; e.g. hazardous gas bunkers, Hydrogen storage, toxic gas monitoring and delivery, wastewater treatment, RTO systems, fire protection, life safety systems, chemical & flammable handling, and storage.
• Responsible for the health and safety of employees using or handling compressed toxic gases, hazardous liquids, and inert gases (e.g. silane and Trifluoro Methane; Toluene and sodium hydroxide; nitrogen).
• Manage chemical usage data systems (compressed gases and liquids) for air emissions (Green House Gases) reporting purposes.
• Manage, develop, and train emergency response teams for plant related chemical and gas incidents, e.g. chemical spill, and Hazardous and Toxic gas leaks.
• Develop innovative strategies and programs for improving safety awareness and overall safety culture.
• Manage and oversee all US environmental reporting requirements documented in EH&S Management software.
• Participate, monitor, oversee and drive continuous improvement and compliance of Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Requirements.
• Manage, plan, review, and update hazard communication programs, maintaining MSDS and chemical inventory information.
• Assigned site laser safety officer and radiation safety control officer responsibilities.
• Responsible for conducting job hazard analysis and personal protective equipment reviews and assessments.
• Manage and chair the Lowell Safety Committee.
• Support and maintain the certified ISO 14001 program and its associated reporting requirements.
• Support HR in the development, maintenance and reporting of employee training utilizing the Learning Mgmt. system (LMS).
• Acts as liaison representing MACOM with all EHS regulatory agencies.
• Manage, prepare, and report on EHS key performance indicators (KPIs); e.g. weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual EHS reports.
• Responsible for OSHA 300 log and e-Reporting requirements for all US locations.
• Manage the EHS Compliance Calendar with a focus on operational compliance in a Semiconductor environment.
• Conduct Industrial Hygiene surveys, administer Hearing Conservation program and respirator protection program performing respiratory fit testing and medical surveillance.
• Become an active member of the Lowell Regional Emergency Planning Committee and ensure site compliance to Community Right to Know Act.
• Support Workers Compensation claims to include investigations, case management, and insurance providers annual review.
• Provide technical guidance or advice, to employees, supervisors, and managers on various EH&S compliance requirements.
• Oversee recycling and Green programs.
• Responsible for the career development of self and subordinates.
• Oversee, support, and advise other MACOM sites on EHS matters in the US as needed.
• Support any additional duties as required by Management.
