    Position Purpose:

    The Manager, Fleet Safety and Compliance – Drivers provides enterprise oversight for driver safety and driver compliance programs across supported fleet operations, including DOT and non-DOT driver populations. This role owns the execution, governance, and continuous improvement of driver qualification, hours-of-service, drug and alcohol compliance, driver coaching, incident prevention, driver engagement, and safety-performance reporting. The position partners with field leaders, Legal, HR, Risk Management, Safety, and third-party providers to ensure driver programs are compliant, consistently executed, risk-based, and aligned to Home Depot’s broader fleet safety strategy.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Driver Compliance Program Governance: Own day-to-day oversight of DOT and non-DOT driver compliance programs, including driver qualification files, CDL and medical card tracking, MVR monitoring, annual reviews, pre-employment screening, recurring compliance monitoring, third-party administrator performance, audit readiness, and timely closure of driver compliance documentation gaps.
    • Hours of Service, ELD and Driver Regulatory Compliance: Manage hours-of-service compliance, ELD monitoring, exemptions, form-and-manner errors, unassigned driving, and violation trends. Partner with field leaders to address repeat issues, provide coaching guidance, support corrective actions, and escalate high-risk or recurring compliance concerns.
    • Driver Safety, Coaching and Incident Prevention: Lead driver incident-prevention program execution and support root-cause analysis for significant vehicular incidents. Use Samsara, telematics, video-based safety data, incident trends, and field observations to identify high-risk behaviors, establish coaching governance, reinforce field leader accountability, and verify corrective-action effectiveness.
    • Drug and Alcohol Program Oversight: Oversee execution of DOT drug and alcohol program requirements, including random testing, post-accident testing, pre-employment testing, reasonable suspicion support, and Clearinghouse query compliance. Monitor vendor performance, compliance exceptions, field escalation, and corrective-action follow-up in partnership with HR, Legal, and Safety.
    • Driver Engagement, Training, Analytics and Continuous Improvement: Coordinate driver safety recognition and engagement programs, support defensive driving and DOT compliance training routines, analyze driver safety and compliance KPIs, produce scorecards and executive-ready summaries, recommend process improvements, and oversee FMCSA DataQ submissions for inaccurate driver-related records through final resolution.


    Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

    • Reports to Sr. Manager, Director Sr. Director or VP
    • Typically requires interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
    • Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
    • Typically considers new courses of action within broad policies and medium-term goals when solving problems.
    • Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.


    Travel Requirements:

    • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).


    Working Conditions:

    • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    • Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
    • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Six Sigma or other Process Improvement Methodology
    • Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word, and Visio.
    • Associates degree or higher.
    • Certified Director of Safety (CDS) Certification, Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Designation.
    • SMITH System or Decision Driving Trainer Certification
    • 2 Years’ Experience Managing a Fleet Maintenance Program
    • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
    • Business Analysis: Clarifies and resolves complex business issues by breaking them down into meaningful components to determine root cause and redesigning internal and external business processes.
    • Business Communication: Writes, speaks, and presents clearly and succinctly across a variety of communication settings and adjusts communication style to the audience by translating and articulating technical concepts to nontechnical groups.

    • 2 years’ experience with compliance administration
    • Must possess excellent organizational skills to ensure all work is accurately completed in a timely fashion.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate at all levels is critical.
