What you will do:

The Manager Cost Accounting is responsible for ensuring the proper accounting of product cost and inventory. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining financial processes and analytics to drive informed decision-making throughout the business. This position will serve as a manager to the Cost Accountant and will also support the Assistant Controller in other areas of accounting including journal entries and account reconciliations.

The position is located at our Headquarters in Stoughton, MA with a hybrid office option and will report to the Assistant Controller.

IN MORE DETAIL, YOU WILL:

  • Analyze costs against standards to determines variances for purchase price, production costs and distribution costs
  • Evaluate and help drive strategic pricing initiatives
  • Manage and train the Cost Accountant
  • Mange month end closing duties including inventory cost procedures and general ledger entries, merchandise-in-transit entries and reconciliation, inventory roll-forward, and other related reporting ensuring that company inventory is properly accounted and reconciled according to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Partner with operations management to analyze and reconcile on-hand and in-transit inventory balances monthly
  • Prepare monthly reporting package analyzing revenue, returns/allowances, and operational standard to actual variances
  • Recommend, draft and implement inventory policies and procedures
  • Create and monitor controls to ensure accurate and timely recording of all inventory related transactions and coordinate and manage cycle count programs and physical inventory processes with operational staff
  • Research and communicate reconciliation variances discovered during financial close process
  • Participate in monthly and annual closing
  • Calculate and book monthly general journal entries as assigned
  • Perform special projects and analyses as needed to support the introduction or modification of Company products or processes
  • Foster strong working relationships with peers and management in order to develop efficient and effective cross-functional relationships
  • Other projects as required

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field highly preferred
  • ERP System knowledge
  • 8+ years of experience in cost accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in general accounting
  • Proven management experience of direct reports

  • Leadership skills and process improvement experience with deep analytical abilities
  • Management and leadership mentality with ability to train others
  • Strong leadership skills and process improvement experience and desire to train others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain complex issues across various levels within the organization
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Advanced computer user skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong project lead skills and process improvement experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure and able to work cross functionally with all levels in the organization

For this role, the pay range is $103,000 - $129,000 annually, which is what we reasonably expect to offer when filling the position. Your actual offer will depend on things like your experience, skills, and what you bring to the team.
