This role combines people leadership, application stewardship, software engineering discipline, business partnership, and delivery management across a diverse manufacturing technology environment.The Manager will lead a small, capable development team and help shape how Seyer implements, enhances, integrates, supports, and retires business applications and internally developed software. The role works closely with the Senior Solutions Architect and the Manager - IT Infrastructure & Operations within an IT governance model led by the CFO.This is not simply a software development manager role. The position spans enterprise applications, custom software, integration, application lifecycle management, AI-enabled solutions, vendor stewardship, and business-facing delivery in a complex manufacturing environment.What You Will LeadLead, coach, mentor, and develop the IT Applications & Development team while establishing clear priorities, accountability, and professional growth.Provide technical and operational stewardship for enterprise applications, including ERP, HRIS, quality, manufacturing, engineering-supporting, portal, and related business systems as applicable.Lead implementation, enhancement, maintenance, support, modernization, and retirement of enterprise applications and internally developed software within approved priorities and architecture direction.Establish and continuously improve software engineering practices, including coding standards, code review, testing, documentation, source control, CI/CD, release practices, secure development, and technical debt management.Lead the full application lifecycle - from request intake, requirements, and design coordination through development/configuration, testing, user acceptance, release, production support, and retirement.Manage delivery capacity, backlogs, schedules, dependencies, and tradeoffs; communicate risks and constraints clearly to technical and business stakeholders.Partner with business process owners to translate business needs into practical technology solutions and improve adoption, usability, and operational performance.Lead implementation and operational lifecycle management of approved AI-enabled applications, automations, assistants, and agents, including appropriate business ownership, testing, monitoring, support, and cost awareness.Manage assigned application and software vendors, licensing, renewals, service levels, technical support relationships, and escalations.Maintain visibility into application portfolio health, including ownership, criticality, lifecycle status, integrations, cost, support model, technical debt, and planned investments.How the Role FitsThe Manager - IT Applications & Development is the operating leader for applications, software engineering, delivery, and application lifecycle governance. The Senior Solutions Architect provides cross-functional technical architecture, integration and data-pattern leadership, technology standards, and design review. The Manager - IT Infrastructure & Operations provides the infrastructure, cybersecurity operations, identity, resilience, service, and platform foundation on which applications operate.Enterprise technology strategy, investment prioritization, policy approval, risk appetite, and final decision rights remain with the CFO. The three IT leadership roles work collaboratively within Seyer's IT Governance Framework.What We Are Looking ForBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.Approximately 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in software engineering, enterprise applications, systems integration, or related technology disciplines.Approximately 5+ years of progressively responsible technical leadership experience, including experience leading or managing software development and/or enterprise applications teams.Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting enterprise applications and managing application lifecycles.Experience establishing software engineering practices, delivery processes, application governance, and organizational standards.Strong business partnership skills and experience leading technology-enabled change.Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred; aerospace and defense experience is a plus.Technical Environment & CapabilitiesThe successful candidate should be comfortable leading in a modern development and enterprise application environment.
