Position Purpose:

The Manager, Mechanical Design and Engineering is responsible for guiding a team of Mechanical Design Engineers through the successful execution and implementation of mechanical systems across a wide range of projects. This role balances strategic leadership with technical oversight, ensuring both team development and project delivery. The Manager provides hands-on technical guidance and oversight throughout all phases of project execution from design and engineering through manufacturing, commissioning, and customer handover. They ensure that engineering standards are upheld and that project deliverables meet TAIT quality. Additionally, this role incorporates technical expertise, including innovation of technology, product development, and mentorship on complex projects.
 
These (2) open Manager roles will be positioned within the Live Market working closely with Market Conductors and Band Leaders. The Manager will play a key role in supporting strong connections between MDE Competency and Live Market.

Essential Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Identifies procedural and technical roadblocks and coordinates solutions.

Qualifications – Academic / Vocational:

  • Formal degree in Technical Theater, Engineering, Architectural, Industrial Design, Machine Design, CADD preferred, or GED and equivalent work experience listed below.
  • Design Experience: minimum 5 years with formal degree, including 3-5 years of project leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Design Experience: minimum 7 years without formal degree, including 3-5 years of project leadership or supervisory experience.
Experience - Knowledge and Skills:
  • 2+ years of leadership experience, either in management role, or other assignments such as project lead.
  • Experience in the Entertainment Technology Industry.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
 
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While the role does not require regular lifting or physical exertion, it frequently requires working in a shop or construction environment, and will frequently require the employee to walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel.
 
Work conditions of the role are:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location.
  • Must be able to view and complete project work on a computer monitor or equipment screens for extended periods of time.
