Manager on Duty

POSITION SUMMARY 

Under the direction of the Facilities and Operations Manager, the Manager on Duty supervises daily facility operations, delivers customer service, handles cash and memberships, resolves guest issues, and ensures safety protocols are met while managing the front desk. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Facility Operations: Open and close the recreation center securely. Check all areas for safety hazards and cleanliness. Work in partnership with front desk employees to set up rooms and areas within the recreation center for programs. Attend regular meetings with the Facilities and Operations Manager.
• Customer Service: Greet members and guests warmly. Answer phone calls and provide accurate program or schedule info. Work in partnership with front desk employees to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere for patrons.
• Staff Supervision: Oversee front desk staff and facility monitors. Assign daily tasks and break schedules.
• Financial Duties: Operate the cash register and point-of-sale system. Process daily cash receipts, passes, and program registrations accurately.
• Incident Response: Handle member complaints, injuries, or emergencies calmly. Follow standard safety and emergency action plans.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of customer service or supervisory experience. Background in recreation or hospitality is preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. College coursework in sports management or recreation is a plus.
• Certifications: Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain them within 30 days.
• Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and basic math skills. Ability to multitask in a busy environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge , skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. High School diploma or GED required. Three years of related work experience. A valid state driver's license is required. Must be First Aid, CPR and AED certified within 30 days of hire date.
