Job Summary:

Implements enhancements and fixes to the eRx (Electronic Prescription) solution, collaborating with Development and Architecture to ensure full support and functionality of the application. Works with Support group to troubleshoot issues and problems. Works with vendors to ensure smooth functionality and to develop, maintain and monitor continuous improvement statistics and metrics, facilitating resolution of prescriber's application problems and issues. Documents training for the application. Develops and executes a continuous improvement program, monitoring and resolving daily issues. Works with the governing body NCPDP (National Council for Prescription Drug Programs) to ensure that the system is used properly, incorporating changes from NCPDP and recommending changes to NCPDP to be adopted as standards. Supervises and ensures optimal performance of staff members.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, monitors, maintains and reports continuous improvement statistics, metrics and project status to both internal and external audiences.

  • Designs and documents application training for user groups.

  • Facilitates prescriber/physician issue resolution through troubleshooting the problems.

  • Confers with NCPDP Script Standard and other governing bodies to ensure that eRx is effectively utilized, in compliance and adherence with rules and regulations and to further ensure that changes communicated by NCPDP are incorporated by Walgreens and that recommendations to NCPDP are adopted by NCPDP.

  • Works with Team and department leadership on strategic planning of Electronic Prescribing technology for Walgreens.

  • Establishes relationships with new eRx/EHR vendors and works with eRx/EHR vendors to ensure smooth functionality of the application.

  • Consults with Support group to troubleshoot system issues and problems with applications.

  • Communicates project status, requirements of the application, and expectations of functionality to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.

  • Meets and collaborates with internal departments including Development, Architecture and users to design enhancements and implement system enhancements and fixes to the eRx platform to ensure full support and functionality of the application.

  • Develops employees through orientation, training establishing objectives, communication of rules, constructive discipline; builds employee morale, motivation and loyalty.

External Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree with 4 years of experience in analytical or pharmacy role, OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in an analytical or pharmacy role.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills. Experience identifying the root cause of business issues, developing solutions, and driving solution implementation

  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or minimal supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.

  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).

  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).

  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).

  • At least one (1) year of experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.

  • At least one (1) year of experience in indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members.

  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with pharmacy dispensing & eRx technology and functionality

  • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).

  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with vendor partners, industry contacts and within internal teams.
