Manager, Project Accounting

• Oversee project accounting activities for multiple large-scale construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage project financial reporting, including revenue recognition, profitability, cash flow, job costing, and project reconciliations.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and annual financial reports, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes related to assigned projects.
• Partner with project managers and business unit leaders to monitor project budgets, costs, financial performance, and profitability.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 1-3 project accounting professionals.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for internal audits and support external audit requests.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and company procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial systems.
• Communicate financial risks and project performance updates to senior leadership.
• Support strategic initiatives and ongoing improvements within the project accounting function.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong background in project-based accounting.
• Construction industry experience required, ideally within a large, nationally recognized general contractor.
• Prior experience managing and developing direct reports.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, project reconciliations, revenue recognition, and project financial reporting.
• Experience supporting large-scale, complex, multi-year construction projects.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal accounting controls.
• Experience managing multiple projects and competing deadlines.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large general contractors or national construction organizations.
• Exposure to technology, industrial, data center, or mission-critical construction projects.
• Experience with JD Edwards, Oracle, or Power BI.
• Experience supporting projects valued at $50M+.
• Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, reporting systems, and team efficiency.
