You will report into the Head of Finance and will be the first Accounting hire for the organization. You will help set the course for our Accounting function including the improvement of our billing process and the implementation of our next ERP system. This is a rare chance to step into a blank‑canvas role: you won't be inheriting someone else's processes, you'll be designing them.If you've ever wanted the autonomy to build a finance org the way it should be built, this is it.What you'll ownDay-to-Day OperationsOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare and review accruals, account reconciliations, and flux analysisManage AP, vendor contracts, expense reimbursements, and treasuryCoordinate external tax advisors for federal and state filingsBilling & Revenue (Your Biggest Priority)Own and improve our billing process end-to-end — we're usage‑based, and automation here is a key unlock for the businessDrive ASC 606 revenue recognition for a consumption modelReduce manual touchpoints; build something that scalesUpleveling the Accounting OrganizationLead the evaluation and implementation of our next ERP (Campfire, Rillet, or NetSuite — your call to recommend)Build a chart of accounts that supports department‑level P&L reporting across R&D, S&M, and G&A — the foundation for budget vs. actual and external benchmarkingDevelop our procurement process from the ground upHire out our accounting function. We also utilize a US based firm for current US bookkeeping.Who You AreYour Career Background8+ years of progressive accounting experience including 3+ years in Big4 and 2+ years in private techCPA strongly preferred (inactive is fine)Deep command of US GAAP and ASC606You've owned usage‑based billing before — not just supported it, owned itYou've led or been a key player in an ERP implementationYou've prepped a company for its first external auditYou've used AI tooling to automate accounting workflows — and you're excited to do more of itMindsetIn‑office daily in Dogpatch SF — this is a present, collaborative role.
