Position Summary
The Manager, Corporate Accounting is a key member of the Accounting Operations team responsible for overseeing assigned accounting processes across various Carlyle consolidated entities. The Manager is accountable for the timely and accurate completion of assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance and trend analysis, and related financial reporting support. The Manager will review and approve work prepared by Senior and Staff Accountants, directly perform or review more complex and judgmental accounting activities, and ensure significant issues are identified, investigated, resolved, and escalated appropriately.
In addition, the Manager will oversee the accounting execution for new, complex, or non-routine transactions within assigned areas. The Manager will ensure accounting guidance provided by the Accounting Policy team is understood and translated into accurate accounting entries, controls, reconciliations, and operational procedures. The Manager is expected to exercise sound judgment in recognizing when a transaction or accounting matter is unclear, complex, or outside established guidance and to engage the Accounting Policy team for additional guidance when appropriate. Examples may include new accounting standards, joint ventures, firm acquisitions, and/or cross-segment costs. The Manager will coordinate with Accounting Policy and other stakeholders to ensure approved guidance is implemented consistently and effectively.
This position requires a strong foundation in accounting concepts (i.e. Accruals/Contingencies, Prepaid Expenses, Receivables, and Payables), demonstrated supervisory and review capabilities, and a strong aptitude for accounting systems, data analysis, and processing high volumes of financial information. The Manager must be able to prioritize competing deadlines, exercise sound judgment, communicate clearly with stakeholders and leadership, and develop team members. Depending on the assignment, the role may combine direct process ownership, review responsibilities, and hands-on execution of complex accounting activities. Substantially all responsibilities will involve Excel and PeopleSoft. Essential attributes include strong attention to detail, accountability, effective people leadership, sound escalation judgment, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
