Manual Mill Operator-First and 3rd ShiftWe are seeking dedicated Manual Mill Operators for positions at a local steel mill in Youngstown, Ohio. This is your opportunity to join a manufacturing team supporting precision machining and quality work.
Hours
First and third shifts available.
- First Shift: 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- Third Shift: 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM
Pay
$17.00 $21.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Position and secure workpieces on machines using holding devices, measuring instruments, and hand tools.
Remove workpieces and check for conformance to specifications with gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
Verify workpiece alignment using various measuring tools.
Move cutters or materials manually or with automatic feeding mechanisms to achieve precise milling.
Monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure proper machine operation.
Adjust machine controls and change worn tools as needed.
Study blueprints and job instructions to determine setup and tooling requirements.
Select appropriate cutting speeds, feeds, and tools to meet machining specifications.
Ensure products meet quality standards by inspecting machined parts.
Minimum Requirements
At least 1 year of manual mill experience.
Skilled in using hand tools and measuring instruments.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
Basic organizational skills with multitasking abilities.
Physical ability to respond quickly to sounds and see potential hazards.
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and wear PPE correctly.
Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with measuring instruments, gauges, calipers, micrometers, and telescoping gauges.
Previous work in manufacturing or machine operation.
Valid overhead crane and forklift certifications preferred.
