Doherty Career Solutions is partnering with a local Winchester, VA facility as they search for a Manufacturing CapitalProject Manager to join the thriving and growing team. Salary for this role will depend upon experience but offer $120,000-150,000 plus an extremely lucrative bonus plan. The Manufacturing Capital Project Manager leads large, cross-functional capital projects within food manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, compliant, on-time, and on-budget execution from concept through start-up.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Lead large-scale capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects ranging from $2MM to $10MM+ from concept development through commissioning and operational handover
  • Manage project stage-gate processes, including business case development, NPV analysis, risk assessment, and change control
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering activities including process, automation/controls, utilities, facilities, and construction trades
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies, including contractor prequalification, bid evaluations, and vendor selection
  • Oversee construction management activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements
  • Develop and execute commissioning, qualification, and start-up plans to ensure performance targets are achieved
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, environmental, and safety standards throughout project execution
  • Manage project closeout activities, including as-built documentation, O&M manuals, training, spare parts, and formal handover to Operations and Maintenance teams
  • Provide regular project status reporting to corporate and site leadership, including schedule, cost, risk, and mitigation plans
  • Travel as required to support project execution and site coordination
  • Mentor and develop others in project management best practices and standards.
  • Promote personal and company image throughout the community

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience managing capital projects within food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors, vendors, and construction activities
  • Strong working knowledge of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management
  • Experience researching potential expansions and industries
  • Experience opening up all new product lines and equipment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent construction safety training preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
