What Youll Do
Manufacturing & Process Engineering
- Provide advanced technical support for injection molding operations, including machine capability, mold capability, material processing, process control, and auxiliary equipment.
- Serve as an advanced troubleshooter for machine, tooling, process, material, and other production-related issues.
- Identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to improve manufacturing performance.
- Optimize cycle times, processes, equipment utilization, and overall production efficiency.
- Validate manufacturing processes to meet customer and internal requirements.
- Coordinate tooling and auxiliary equipment modifications to improve molding processes and/or meet customer specifications.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing
Identify, recommend, and execute continuous improvement projects aligned with company objectives.
Lead or support initiatives focused on:
Cycle time reduction
Scrap reduction
Preventive action / Red Tag reduction
Direct labor reduction
SMED and capacity improvement
Workflow and productivity improvements
Develop and improve work-cell layouts using ergonomics, Lean manufacturing principles, and process-flow analysis.
Quantify the financial and operational impact of improvement projects, including customer-driven initiatives.
New Product Introduction & Equipment
- Represent Manufacturing on New Product Introduction (NPI) and product development teams.
- Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) expertise to ensure new products can be efficiently and consistently manufactured.
- Partner with Engineering during new project development and assist with the transition of new equipment and processes from Engineering to Operations.
- Assist with the installation, startup, setup, and operation of new equipment and automation.
- Train and support operations personnel on new equipment, automation, processes, and work-cell requirements.
Quality & Customer Support
- Provide manufacturing, process, machine, and material expertise when investigating customer complaints.
- Develop and implement preventive actions to address manufacturing-related quality issues.
- Work directly with customer representatives when needed to understand requirements and the voice of the customer.
- Maintain accurate project and process documentation in accordance with company specifications and procedures.
Key Performance Objectives
Success in this role will be measured through improvements in:
- Cycle time and manufacturing capacity
- Scrap and material waste
- Preventive action / Red Tag performance
- Direct labor efficiency
- SMED implementation and equipment availability
- Process capability and stability

What Were Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
- Hands-on experience with injection molding manufacturing and process engineering.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and process controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and identify root causes.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Operations, and customers.
- Strong commitment to manufacturing safety and standardized work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with plastic injection molding processes.
- Experience with mold and tooling modifications.
- Experience with automation and auxiliary equipment.
- Experience with SMED, Lean, process optimization, and scrap reduction.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and Design for Manufacturability.
- Experience working directly with customers or customer engineering teams.
