Sanmina Turtle Lake, Wisconsin is a full-service plastic injection molding, electronics integration and design service facility. They have 50 injection molding machines and expertise with engineering-grade resins. Sanmina Turtle Lake has long standing business partnerships with both tool designers and manufacturers.

This role will focus on supporting automation initiatives within a plastic injection molding environment. The intern will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve efficiency, reliability, and quality across molding and secondary operations.
This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience with robotics, automation systems, and process improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of automation systems for injection molding and secondary operations
Troubleshoot and optimize robotic systems (3-, 4-, and 6-axis robots), automated cells, and manual processes
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and uptime improvement
Help develop and update work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures
Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Assist with equipment validation, testing, and runoffs for new or modified automation systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and maintenance
Support preventative maintenance and reliability improvements for automation equipment
Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes; exposure to plastic injection molding is a plus
Interest in automation, robotics, and hands-on problem solving
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting mindset
Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
Basic knowledge of PLCs or robot programming is a plus but not required
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
